Using NetGuard to prevent Amazon OTAs but allow Google services?

Has anyone tried using NetGuard or another firewall to prevent Amazon services from phoning home?

I have 5.3.1.0 on my Fire, so no root. But fortunately NetGuard doesn't need root.

I'm trying to find exactly which packages to block and allow to make sure Amazon can't update my OS, and preferably also block ads, while allowing the Play Store.

The problem I have been running into is that NetGuard lumps some services/apps together, so if I try to enable, for example, Android Contact Storage, it also enabled all of the Amazon contact related options, including all the social media connectors.

I haven't found a combination that allows me to login to Google but prevents system updates.

Has anyone successfully done this? I'd love some tips or maybe even an export of your NetGuard config.

Stock ROM instead of carrier's branded one?

Hi,
I'm considering buying Honor 8 and I need to know what steps will be needed for flashing manufacturer's stock ROM instead of carrier's branded one? Is it required unlocked bootloader or is there any more simple method?

Mi4c bootloader Unlock failed!!!

My MIUI version is 7.5.2 (Chinese Stable) . I want to unlock the bootloader and flash custom rom like sMIUI. Tried the official way to unlock and i got the sms with the verification key but failed while unlocking at 50% which is very frustrating. Would be grateful if anyone please help me in details cause i have less idea about flashing any mobile phone.

Someone has created a thread about the process (link below) but it says it won't work with the higher MIUI versions.

Amazon fire 5.1.1 bootloop

It's been a long time. About one-two years ago, I flashed Slim.LP on my Amazon Fire 5.1.1 device and everything was great. Then I decided to play with the "Layers" app. I found a layer, applied it, then restarted - but my tablet couldn't start because it was now in a bootloop. I guess the "Layers" app was broken or something. :eek: Anyways, back then, I scoured the forums looking for a fix to my doomed device; but the search was in vain. Now, in 2016. I've decided to give it a go again. Does anyone know of a way to help me? The tablet can boot into fastboot (==>FASTBOOT) normally, but as for the recovery, the tablet hangs on the "Amazon" logo. Please reply if you think you can help! :cowboy:

I need your guys help!

So recently I have put myself in a sticky situation where I have bricked my s6 edge + By a stupid attempt to remove root through the supersu app. I have wiped the phone with the stock recovery options and it still wont boot. I am unable to get into download mode for some unknown reason so i can't just Odin a new os or whatever (as you can probably tell I have a very basic knowledge on phone rooting etc..) To make things even better is that my volume up button is broken but sometimes work if you smash it!
