Downgrading modems

I'm running kitkat 4.4.4 (NK4) and the ROM I've built from source is giving me rotation issues. From what I've read it's because of the 4.4.4 modem and the rotation sensors with that firmware. My question is can I downgrade from NK4 to NE5 (4.4.2) without bricking my phone?
